Spa Cover FAQ's:
What is the life expectancy of a Spa Store spa cover? Approximately 4-6 years subject to customer care.
Will a spa cover reduce my spas power use? Spa pool hard covers have a thermal resistance (R) value of 2.28 and virtually eliminate evaporation. This enables hard covers to save up to 70% of the pool heating energy requirements.
Are the Spa Store spa hardcovers safe? Spa Store spa covers are designed to prevent a small child accessing the pool. This only works if the locking devices are used.
What sized spas can be covered with a spa hardcover? Most spas are under 2400mm x 2400mm square and are simple to cover. Larger covers can be made but may need modifications. Click here or call us to discuss further.
Are there any spa shapes that can't be covered? Spa Store hard spa covers can be custom fitted to almost all spas. Click here for custom spa covers.
Does a spa hardcover exempt us from the legal requirements to fence? Your local council is required by law to enforce the fencing of swimming pools act. All councils currently have different interpretations of the act so you will need to contact them directly to determine requirements in your area.
Does compliance to N.Z. safety standard NZ8500:2006 exempt us from the legal requirements to fence? This is the intention but it hasn't happened yet. The standard was introduced in December 2006 and needs to be adopted by individual councils.
How to Measure Your Spa Cover
A Step-by-Step Guide
Replacing your spa cover but not sure what size you need?

Why Accurate Measurements Are Essential
Ordering a new spa cover with precise measurements is crucial. Here’s why:
Energy Efficiency: A snug, perfect fit is the most important factor for trapping heat, which saves you money on your power bill.
Protect Your Spa: A properly sized cover keeps out rain, leaves, and other debris, keeping your water cleaner for longer.
Avoid Costly Mistakes: Most spa covers are a non-refundable purchase. Taking a few minutes to measure accurately ensures you get a cover that will serve you well for years.
Understanding the Corner Radius (The "R" Value)
The corner radius is the measurement of the curve at the corners of your spa. Getting this right is one of the most important steps for a perfect fit. A cover with the wrong radius won't seal properly, leading to heat loss and a shorter lifespan for the cover itself.
4 Simple Steps to Measure Your Spa
Step 1: Measure Length & Width
Measure the outer lip of the spa shell from edge to edge (do not measure the inside). We recommend adding 20mm to each measurement to allow for a slight overlap.
Step 2: Measure the Corner Radius
Place two straight edges (like rulers or a builder's square) flush against a corner. The distance from the point where the rulers meet back to the point where the spa's curve begins is your corner radius.
Step 3: Measure the Skirt Length
Measure from the top surface of the spa shell down to the top of the cabinet. This determines how long the cover's "skirt" will hang down.
Step 4: Measure Latch Locations
Measure the distance from each outer edge of the spa to the centre of the catch. Also, measure from the top of the spa shell down to the centre of the catch.

This is simply the best spa cover for our model - strong, resilient, and attractive. The insulation provided is excellent, and the frame makes taking it on and off a breeze.
This is our 3rd cover in 7 years, as our spa sits in an open area with no weather protection. Inevitably, the harsh NZ sun will split and deteriorate the exterior fabric, so we've accepted that a 3-year use-by date can be expected.
