Suitability and Clearance
This lifter requires:
- That the spa cover has a hinge
- That the spa is no more than 1 meter tall
- That the spa is above ground
- This cover lifter requires the thickness of your spa cover plus approximately 100mm for operational clearance.
- We recommend at least 600mm, if less than this the cover will touch any surface nearer to the spa.
Important notes
The manufacturer installation instructions state that you will need 26" (660mm) for installations. This is not the operational clearance. We have installed these with less than 660mm of clearance. Approximately 200mm of the lifters foot protrudes from the base of the spa once it is installed. In low clearance situations, the foot can be slid in from the side of the spa which allows installation with less than the 26 inches.
In most instances, you will need to empty your spa in order to install this lifter because the feet slide under the spa. We have installed these on full spas by using a wedge to make room for the cover foot, however, depending on the spa model this can damage the base.
Important Safety Notice
If you are installing a cover lifter on your swim spa, you will be required to fence around the area containing the steps and the cover lifter. (except NSW where fencing may not be required). If you have received advice that you only need to fence around your steps, this does not apply when a cover lifter is installed on your swim spa.
Please check with your local authorities for current regulations.
